Yet another Australian Certified Organic wine has beaten hundreds of wines to be crowned the Best Organic Wine of NSW 2010.
Tamburlaine’s 2009 Botrytis Chardonnay (Orange region) won the inaugural trophy at the prestigious awards which celebrate the variety of different wines available from the 14 NSW wine regions.
Mark Davidson, CEO and chief winemaker at Tamburlaine says the award is testament to the success of sustainable and organic viticulture.
“We are organic to make the best wines possible; wines equal to the best in the world,” said Mark.
“This is the first year that the awards have featured an organic wine. It feels good to know that the Australian wine industry has embraced certified organic wines. This award proves that you can conserve the environment whilst producing top quality wine. This is the ultimate way for consumers to discover the quality of organic wine, as judged by the experts.
“NSW has been the Australian heartland of organic viticulture and to be awarded the inaugural Best NSW Organic Wine Trophy for our 2009 Botrytis Chardonnay (Orange region) at the prestigious NSW Wine Awards was just fantastic for the winery,” he said.
After transitioning to organic production systems in 1998, Mark says the ‘Bud’ logo provides them with brand recognition that is priceless.
“We now carry the ACO label on most of our wines. This differentiates our brand from the thousands of others fighting for commercial recognition, both domestically and internationally,” Mark said.
